What is a revenue leak?

A revenue leak is a point in your acquisition, conversion, tracking, follow-up, or operational path where the business is losing addressable revenue. Some leaks are visible from public signals; financial impact has to be verified against internal data.

Definition

A revenue leak is any place in a business where money that was already on its way to the company drops out of the path. Leaks compound: a leak in the ad surface wastes spend, a leak in the booking flow wastes traffic, a leak in follow-up wastes captured leads, and a leak in reporting hides all three.

Why it matters

Most growth conversations start with "how do we get more leads?" That answer is incomplete until the path between the lead and the booked customer can hold what already arrives. Diagnosing leaks first is cheaper than buying more demand to pour into a broken funnel.

Symptoms (public-signal)

  • Paid traffic increases but bookings, calls, or qualified replies do not move at the same rate.
  • Visible booking or checkout flow has multiple steps with no resume state.
  • Tracking pixels are missing on conversion confirmation pages, so platform optimisation is flying blind.
  • Public review or trust signals are dormant for months while ads keep running.
  • CRM follow-up cadence appears slow or inconsistent based on public response patterns.

What a public scan can show

  • Where on the public surface a known leak pattern is likely.
  • Which Revenue OS module a verified leak would map to.
  • Whether ad spend is going into a surface that can plausibly convert.

What a public scan cannot prove

  • The exact dollar value of a leak without internal CRM, booking, and PPC data.
  • Whether staff or operations are the underlying cause.
  • How much of the leak is recoverable inside any specific quarter.

How a finding reads

01 — claim

Paid traffic on this site may be losing conversion before the booking step completes.

02 — public-visible evidence
  • EV-LK-114 — Multi-step booking with no session-resume parameter on the URL.
  • EV-LK-115 — No retargeting pixel detected on the booking subdomain.
  • EV-LK-116 — Public confirmation page is indexed and fingerprintable.
limitation · Requires internal funnel data to verify completion rate and revenue per recovered session. [REQUIRES ACCESS]

Next diagnostic step

Request a Revenue Scan against your public surface. The scan produces 20–25 evidence rows across 8 public surfaces and pairs each finding with the Revenue OS module that would own the fix.
